(See previous blog entry.) But an Ilias skin can even change the functionality. So branding is here especially important. In our case, we added areas with logos at the top and the bottom. We also also placed an image with a truck next to the login form.<\/p>\n<p>2) The ability to self-registration has been removed, because the company decides who is allowed to use the system and provide the users with a login name.<\/p>\n<pre lang=\"html\">\r\n<!-- BEGIN new_registration -->\r\n<!-- <a href=\"{CMD_REGISTER}\">{REGISTER}<\/a> -->\r\n<!-- END new_registration -->\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>3) The language switch has been removed, because our participants always speak German, otherwise they could not understand the learning content anyway.<\/p>\n<pre lang=\"html\">\r\n<form action=\"{LANG_FORM_ACTION}\" method=\"post\" name=\"languageselection\">\r\n  <input name=\"cmd[showLogin]\" type=\"hidden\" value=\"1\" \/>\r\n  <select name=\"change_lang_to\" onchange=\"this.form.submit()\">\r\n    <option value=\"\">{TXT_CHOOSE_LANGUAGE}<\/option>\r\n  <\/select>\r\n<\/form>\r\n<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-898\" src=\"http:\/\/meier-online.com\/blog\/uploads\/achtung40x35.png\" alt=\"Attention\" width=\"40\" height=\"35\" \/>Attention: Be careful when you remove such options: do not remove the annotated &#8220;brackets&#8221; (BEGIN \/ END). Ilias (or the template engine) is looking for them and produces errors when the brackets are missing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-904\" src=\"http:\/\/meier-online.com\/blog\/uploads\/ilias-suche-entfernern-512x93.png\" alt=\"Ilias upper menu area with elements you might want to remove\" width=\"512\" height=\"93\" srcset=\"https:\/\/meier-online.com\/blog\/uploads\/ilias-suche-entfernern-512x93.png 512w, https:\/\/meier-online.com\/blog\/uploads\/ilias-suche-entfernern-512x93-300x54.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Upper menu area<\/h3>\n<p>This area is defined in the file <code>tpl.main_menu.html<\/code> in the <code>services \/ MainMenu<\/code> directory<\/p>\n<p>In our case, we have removed the search box, because Ilias has also a menu item &#8220;Search&#8221;, and the search did not seem so important for our relatively small offers.<\/p>\n<p>We have also removed the text &#8220;Logged in as xxx&#8221;, because the area is not public visible anyway, so the participants are always logged in. The &#8220;logout&#8221; link stands out better that way.<\/p>\n<p>The entries in the menus themselves are not changed in this file, but in the file <code>tpl.main_menu_list_entries.html<\/code><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-906\" title=\"Ilias footer with permanent links and social media links\" src=\"http:\/\/meier-online.com\/blog\/uploads\/ilias-permalinks.png\" alt=\"Ilias Permalinks\" width=\"613\" height=\"53\" srcset=\"https:\/\/meier-online.com\/blog\/uploads\/ilias-permalinks.png 613w, https:\/\/meier-online.com\/blog\/uploads\/ilias-permalinks-300x25.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 613px) 100vw, 613px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Footer with Permalinks<\/h3>\n<p>On (almost) every Ilias page you find a box which contains the so-called permanent link and also links to Facebook, Yahoo, etc.<\/p>\n<p>For companies with a closed user group, this is not desired.
